History

In the spring of 2005, Noemie Lafrance of Sens Productions, Alex Kane of Jelly NYC, and the Stedman brothers of The L Magazine scouted what Rolling Stone magazine would soon call “the coolest venue in the country.” SummerScreen launched that same year; over 3,000 people came to the McCarren Park Pool to see Do The Right Thing and a local Brooklyn band that played before the film.

SummerScreen has since moved from the Pool to the corner of Bedford and N. 12th St. (right next to the tennis court), and is now entering its eighth year.
